Match… Made in Heaven
He with 49 years of baggage and She with 46 years, hit the “sign me up” button on Match.com, with the only expectation being companionship, you know, dinner and a movie. Low and behold, the Lord above had other plans. With a radius of 75 miles set (not road miles, but “as the crow flies”), Manistique includes Petoskey. Across Lake Michigan the radius reached us and now we realize we are 140 driving miles away from each other. Can this work? We met part way then took a little road trip, all the while, realizing where we wanted to spend the rest of our lives… TOGETHER.
So we sealed the deal, on 12-12-12 at 12:12 in The Livery at The Shack in Jugville where we became Mr. & Mrs. Hicks, exactly 10 months from our first online encounter. Our goals for the rest of our lives were similar, spending time on the road traveling, meeting new people, and seeing the sites our great USA has to offer, while we offer to help others along the way. But our hearts lie in Alanson MI and Westminster SC where we call home. We have the best of both worlds with Mid-Spring, Summer, and Early Fall in Northern Michigan and Mid-Fall, Winter, and Early Spring in Northern South Carolina. This will document experiences we encounter on our journeys between those two places and may, on occasion, include our visits with family in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Central Florida, Eastern Wyoming and points in between.
There is so much to see and share, so here goes. Pack up your baggage, hang on for the ride, and enjoy the journey.
HE – STEPHEN
Born on tax day, the youngest of five. Baby of the siblings and four years after #4. Big Bro 7 years older and 3 sisters in between. Do you think HE was a little spoiled? Um. Yup! Not in material ways, but garnered a lot of attention growing up. Independent, strong, and confident except with the girls. Affectionate, lovable yooper.
SHE – SHELLEY
Born in August, the oldest of three, two years in between sister and three and a half years in between baby brother. Very independent and sassy. Structured and opinionated. Humble, lower self-esteem. Age and time has improved the self worth issue. Still light on affection initiation. Driven work ethic from living farm life.
SHIX
Both from a stable, two-parent family. Raised by hard working, mechanic father and hard working at home mother. Middle class, fun loving family. Disciplined, fair, and structured upbringing. God loving, patriotic, old fashioned family oriented traditions.
